Does anyone have any kids that go to school there or does someone teach there? Im 15 and Im thinkin about moving to vegas to live with my mom for a yr and thats where I would go to school(palo verde). How hard is it to make friends out there? I would say i have quite a few friends out here in Iowa and most are latino. How is it with the races out there? I mean do whites hang with whites and so on, or does it really matter? Any other info would be nice, but dont comment back and tell me not to complain about making friends, cause thats not what i was tryin to do. I am just wondering if i will like it there or not.

Palo Verde does not have many Hispanics. I am white, but most of my friends are hispanic or black. At my school (which isn't Palo Verde), that is the norm.I knew some kids that go there and they said it would be hard for some kids to make friends if they didn't have some material objects.
You should be very careful though, because Clark County School District doesn't like to transfer many HS credits and if you attend school here, you may have to retake classes over again because of that. My friend from Queens moved here and now she is a senior taking sophomore classes because CCSD wouldn't accept any of NYC's freshman or sophomore credits, so now its really hard for her to get into college and there is no chance for her to get a really good GPA
or class rank.

All the Vegas high schools are relatively heterogeneous. The cross section keeps them all similar...both good and bad. There are however bad high schools. PV is not among them .

oh ok...that part sounds good to me...earlier i was on the "PV" website and i see they have A days and B days...does that mean you only have half days or does it mean half the school has class on A and half has school on B?

no, it means they have block scheduling. the credits might not transfer because Iowa probably has a better curriculum, happened to my friend. In NYC she was taking classes that CCSD didn't offer like combination classes such as Biology/Chemistry or Algebra/Trig, so CCSD threw out the credits. Palo Verde is a very snobby preppy school.

Palo Verde is only 63 percent white, so it does have a high minority population...but more slightly blacks (13%) than Hispanics (12%). The Vegas area and schools are very transient, so making friends may be a little harder there than other places because you can make them and people move away. But I'm sure it can be done.

but whites are still the majority, according to last year and nevadareportcard.com it is actually 63% white, 11% Asian, 13% Hispanic, and 11% black.

That info differs from greatschools.net.... But all in all the CCSD is a majority minority school district now.
