Anyone know of anyplace that does concrete countertops? I am thinking of doing it as a DIY project, but would like to check out the cost of a professional to do it first.

Thanks...

Careful what you are getting into. Concrete counters is a specialized art practiced well by very few.

It is NOT a DIY skill. Much too difficult and requires much too much knowledge and experience.

Anyone can do them...but if you every hope to sell your house get a professional.

I have to second this. Concrete in and of itself can be very difficult to work with. I worked in concrete when I first moved out here, for about 8 or 9 years. My father has been in concrete since he was 14, so about 40 years. Just broom finishing sidewalks is very difficult if you do not know what you are doing, let alone working with things like color, acid stain, sealant, glass, etc. If you'd like I can give my dad a shout and see what he knows about it. I'll give you a call after I talk to him.

Can you hire someone just to do the troweling to ensure a smooth, level surface? I'm pretty sure a friend and myself shouldn't have a problem building the mold, mixing and pouring the concrete.

So does anyone know of any professionals that do countertops?
