Downtown Flagstaff has been historically preserved, with lots of outdoor restaurant seating, and at one downtown plaza they had outdoor dancing, which was fun to watch.

The purpose of this trip was to cool off, in higher altitude. But I didn't really find the cool off, even being 9300 feet up at Silverton, or 6500 feet in Durango, or 6950 feet in Flagstaff. The higher in altitude the more powerful rays from the sun! Even at 90, mid day, in Silverton, it was hot!

Only nice thing, is at night it gets really comfortably cool!

I wouldn't want to live in Flagstaff, as it can snow there any time from October thru May. No, it doesn't stick to the ground, but still!

Whoa, I didn't know that it snowed in Flagstaff during all of those months. I think Flagstaff is a big party town with Northern Arizona University there, plus, it's the gateway city to the Grand Canyon. Well, Williams, AZ, is the real gateway city to the Grand Canyon, but Flagstaff has over 60,000 people living there, Williams has around 3,000. Quite a difference.

Yeah, I interviewed for a Sleep Tech. job at a clinic there. It would've been OK ta work there, only I would've had ta sell my soul to the place in order to keep working there. I put the Kie-bash on the interview right there. My wife and I got a Hilton room for 4 days and 3 nights outta the deal and got a cool vacation out of it. We took I-17 south outta Flagstaff and went and saw beautiful Sedona on the way home!

We also stopped in Phoenix further down I-17 and took our son out to dinner. He's living and working in Sun-City now.

What tijlover said is correct. It CAN snow in Flagstaff during all those months. Snow is rare, however, in the extremes of that range (October, May) and not particularly common in November or April, either. Some years, it doesn't snow enough even in the winter to help the businesses that depend on the ski visitor traffic. It can be pretty hit and miss.

Flagstaff is a college town, yes. A big "party town"? No, not really, sidewalks roll up there pretty early, actually.

I listen to a radio station out of Flagstaff. There seems to be a lot going on there, at least on the weekends. If not for the cold and snow, I'd consider living there since there is stuff to do!

WTH is up with this Bonnie & Clyde stuff lately?

2 dead, 2 hurt in Vegas carjacking, home invasions

Unfortunately, this has already hit national news and it occurred a three-minute drive from the strip.
