Interesting...I don't know what to think on that one either.

On one hand, is strongly accountable for his own actions.

On the other hand, the casinos DO entice/manipulate the wealthy to high degrees..and if he lost over $100,000,000 between two casinos...WOW...even if it did seem to take years to do it, still 'wow'.

It will be very interesting if it goes to trial, particularly if it becomes a high profile case...i.e. media attention.

do you think he would've sued if he won a hundred million?

Then again this heavily involves the NV law that makes bad markers into criminally liable bad checks.

Bad law. Good for the Casinos and basically encourages bad behavior on their part as this case shows.

Should be an entirely civil matter.

I definitely think the casino took advantage but this really comes down to personal responsibility. Mr. Watanabe should not blame a casino for his lack of restraint.

I cannot comment on the prescription drugs issue but when I was in Vegas the casinos were providing their patrons with alcoholic drinks - free of charge. This practice is clearly obscene and should be outlawed.

I don't think I like your tone Dynnie.

I have not been to the casino (there are not that many) in the UK so I cannot comment on the free drinks issue. I would have thought it would be a breach of the EU Human Rights Act. Certainly in the Australian casinos they were not handing out free alcohol.

Simple fact is, this practice needs to stop. I hope this guy who is suing the casino makes some headway on this issue.
