Great advice Muonic,

We actually have an entire room full of stuff that we're moving ourselves. Like electronics, paintings, financials...basically stuff that can't be replaced easily or at all.

The movers have the BIG stuff like furniture that is harder to damage or lose.

And I'm really looking forward to trying out the two burgers. I hear marvelous things about In and Out but the Mandalay burger bar is a new one for me.

You two guys are unreal; you're argueing about who has the best burger when a stressful situation like entrusting a Thailand armoire to lug movers is being discussed ???? LOL

Here's the one that has me baffled on my cross country move. If the movers spend most of the day loading the furniture, they will probably lay over that night but start driving the next day. With 2 of them driving, 12 hrs. each, they are going to arrive at the destination before me. How is that handled? Or, if the movers load and leave and I decide to hop on a plane and cargo my 3 dogs, I'm going to be the first one there and not have any furniture because I've beaten the movers.

You are soo lucky your house sold and you can be on your way. I envy you so much. My house has been for sale for 5 yrs. now and reduced $80K. I just exist here, living in limbo, waiting for the day I make it out there.

Thanks for the laugh JJ. Spot on with the burger...important stuff for sure, but my furniture is my first thought.

...and thanks for the thought provoking comment on the timing of the movers. We're all leaving here at the same time and all driving. However, my husband will be driving the small UHaul with our 'can't lose or break' stuff and I'll be driving the car with the two dogs.

The movers are showing up with two guys who I presume plan to switch out and drive straight through. They'll get there before us, soooooooo are they going to gamble while they're waiting for us to show up??? I certainly hope not after hearing that thieves target moving vans in the casino parking lots.

I will be sure to ask what the plans are if they get to Vegas before us.

And as for selling our house we didn't even try. We're going to lease it. Our payments are low so we'll have positive cash flow and we have a property manager lined up to manage it for us. Also, TX is a stable rental market so it should all be good.

Good luck in getting your house sold!

I surely meant no harm. I just think Lisa deserves the best burger experience when she arrives.
