Does anyone know what kind of neighborhood this is (zip is 89131)? We're thinking about moving into it (coming from New York), but have no way of knowing what sort of area it is. High crime/low crime? Older/Younger?
When I looked at a google map once I thought I saw a Sewage treatment center relatively nearby, but now I can't find it again - was I mistaken? If not is there an odor issue we should be concerned about?
Is there any public transportation in the area? Is it a good area to walk in (I really need the exercise).

Thanks for any and all advice,
Pam

I think the zip code is 89128. It's the older part of Summerlin. A good area. Lots of nice tree lined streets for all your walking needs and close to parks and lots of shopping.

Sewer Dept has SOMETHING on N Buffalo....but it appears to be a retention basin [to catch water runoff] NOT a problem at all.

No, the OP is correct that it is 89131 near Sky Point and Cimarron. It is right behind Centennial Hills Park, so there would be plenty of walking trails there. There is also the new Centennial Hills library and YMCA right next to the park on Buffalo Ave. Across from the YMCA is a Target/Vons shopping center. It's also very convenient to the 215 and 95 highways.

I don't know anything about a sewage treatment plant, but I can assure you I have been to the park next to your neighborhood many times and there is NO smell.

I would say that it's pretty well mixed Older/Younger generations living in the area. I also wouldn't be too concerned about crime. I think it is pretty low compared to the rest of the valley.

Thanks everyone - this is such a great forum - I love the honesty I'v read here.

Can't wait to get out there even though it's going to be the hottest part of the year - just waiting for the N.Y. bankers and lawyers to get together and come up with a closing date.

Thanks again.

Looks like I had N Buffalo and N Cimarron confused with W. Buffalo and Cimarron. Either way, both good area's.

It's a great area. Not real close but not too far either from olecapt and me.

The odor issue you are concerned about is around the 215 beltway area leading to Interstate 15, at times the stench is really strong. One of Republic Service Transfer station is in Cheyenne, North Las Vegas. There are many times when I've driven in the area and I can smell the foul stench from the garbage facility.
