has now turned 18 and wants to become a citizen. Yes, the parents are here illegally, and have at least 2 children born here (maybe a 3rd). What does the 18 yr old need to do?

Was the child brought here illegally or had a visa originally such as a tourist visa?

I am not sure if s/he is eligible to become a citizen at all. I think he can apply for a work permit under the new regulations but not for permanent resident status (which would eventually lead to eligibility to apply for citizenship).
If he joins the American military, I think he might have a better chance of being eligible to become a citizen.

She was brought here illegally. Everything I've researched indicates it could be a very long process and might not ever happen. I was hoping someone here had some other information.

I thought that parents of children born here would be eligible to become citizens or convert to legal immigrant status, but I haven't found any info on that either. I've known this family for about 7 years and they are hardworking, nice people. Mom has been cleaning my home all these years and she is so trustworthy, I can leave my door unlocked for her to come in and do her work when I'm not even home. I've watched this child grow up since she was in jr high and she's looking at attending college now and finding job hunting a dead end. I'd like to help if I can.

Unfortunately this has nothing to do with US Immigration. The child was illegal and is illegal unless he/she qualifies for the limited (for lack of better words) amnesty which is basically an official extension of the stay.
A US citizen can sponsor parents and siblings at the age of 21.

One thing I have noticed on this forum is that people have all kinds of ways to excuse or minimize decisions - she's illegal but she has been working for me for seven years, nice family, honest, watched her grow up, wants to attend college. Fine upstanding citizens one and all.

Judgemental much? Yeah. But I did it legally, know how tough it is to do it legally, know how many other people are finding it tough to do it legally, and have no patience for either law breakers or accessories to law breakers.

They also purposely FORGET that they work under the table while collecting welfare, medical benefits and going to school for their children who are born here for free.

Yes, the parents cannot get welfare for themselves because they are illegal BUT they can get it for their children who are born here in our hospitals that they never paid for.

All without paying income taxes.

Then give them a work permit of sorts, let them work and pay taxes and be able to spend their money!

You need to be jailed for hiring, aiding, abetting and harboring illegal aliens. It is breathtakingly annoying that people seem to think America is a free for all. You disregard our laws and think we are supposed to do what sympathize and kindly aid and abet those of you with in your disrespect of our laws, our country and criminal behavior?
