$10,000 would be just the lawyers fees to get the process started. Visa related fees would cost about that much more. Then you would have to put up a lot more investment money.

Actually, if one were to invest $100,000, you would pretty much be certain of obtaining a visa.
But it all depends on the type of business you're going to run. For consulting-type of businesses where there is no product inventory etc., an amount as low as $30,000 could be sufficient.

From what I've been told, it seems that the business plan is what makes or breaks the deal.
If you have only $50k and a great business plan and can handle questions correctly at the interview, there is a high probability of that being enough.

At least that's what the lawyers I've spoken to have told me.

Not sure if resurrecting this thread worth it, especially since it looks more like trolling. Anyway, the official US Citizenship and immigration web sites clearly lists all categories:

USCIS - Permanent Workers

Investment based immigration requires $1mil in invested assets, $500k in rural areas. I wonder what an imaginary world one must live in to think $30k or even $100k would result in 'obtaining a visa'. And surely those lawyers the OP spoke to must be living in the same imaginary world (or there to keep the illusion in exchange for some $$$)

Default seems I misinterpreted it

Maybe the OP meant to open a company and then sponsor himself. Totally different course of actions. Had he had an established company and open a US branch, that would've work (maybe), but opening a mail-order business in US from scratch? Does not look plausible.

Here is another idea:
