I just had an interesting conversation with a young lady from South Korea. I asked her what she thought of America when she first arrived two years ago. Was it like she thought it would be?

Her reply: She hated it here and she was and is still overwhelmed.

She lived her whole life in South Korea where 99.99 percent of the people in her community were Korean, spoke Korean and practiced a specific religion and social culture. Most people were middle class with a much smaller number of poor and extremely rich people than America.

So she comes to America- to live with her husband who accepted a job here- and did not speak English at the time, nor did she have any experience in the USA. She was just absolutely overwhelmed. So different than in Korea.

In America:

There are so many different languages spoken on the street.

Extreme multiculturism and such a wide variety of personalities and approaches to life.

So many poor people and extremely wealthy people

Crime, poverty, ghettos and communities dominated by one race or cultural groups

So much individuality which is uncommon in South Korea, in comparison to the United States.

------------------
I suspect that pretty much anyone who comes from a country with limited ethnic and cultural diversity would just freak out when they arrive in America. Especially in a big city like New York or Miami. Agree?

We're becoming a "mutt" nation with no soul or identity anymore. I blame this on Ted Kennedy who said our nation's demographics and culture wouldn't change via the 1965 Immigration Act and several administrations since then that have allowed massive illegal immigration into our country.

This is what progressive liberals and to a lesser extent progressive conservatives have done to America since the mid 1960's onward. America use to be mostly middle class and white. Now it is like Brazil.

He gets a lot of the blame but Emmanuel Cellar was the evil mastermind who worked for decades in politics to change immigration policy. I blame every single politician that voted for the '65 Immigration Act and the ones afterwards. May they rot in hell.

Immigrants who would **** on our flag and the meme generation who respects "their right" to do so.
It's why a I live in a small town where we escort these folks to the county line.

Haha, in Donald Trump threads, you guys are very careful delineating the difference between legal and illegal immigrants, and how you have no problems with the legal ones. But the posts here expose the lie - you hate any and all immigrants. I appreciate the unintentional candor. Be honest. It's okay.

Wait, the replies so far have nothing to do with my question. I am not questioning the pros and cons of immigration, but was wondering if the recent immigrants are as excited about America as they expected because we are so diverse. In my travels to most of the world, I find the population in most cities outside the west, to be very homogenous. Our economic, cultural and ethnic diversity must be a complete shock to people from places like Mexico, Japan, Korea, etc. which are only 10% or less ethnic minority.

I've always clearly said that we have too much legal mass immigration and want less no matter where they're from and zero from Africa and the middle east.

This is one of the dumbest topics I have ever read. My parents immigrated here from Brazil, so you are saying, they shouldn't have? Who the hell wants to live in a country where you have one type of food, one type of culture, one way of doing things.
