Can someone tell me if you can exit off of HWY 4 that circles Lexington onto 25 and still get under the bridge over to the Horse Park or should one get on 75 and exit right at the Park? Doing the Dog Show there on Labor Day weekend. I will be coming in on 60. Any advice will be appreciated. PineHollowGal
It really makes no difference. You can go either way and be there in 10 minutes. I'd probably go KY 4 (New Circle Road) to KY 922 (Newtown Pike), to Iron Works Pike and turn into the horse park. I wouldn't go US 25 all the way up, I don't like that road personally. For the most part, traffic on the north side of town is pretty minimal. The only area you'd need to even think of worrying about is US 27 and US 68 on the south side where traffic gets heavy, but you'll be on the other side of town so you need not worry!
agree with teebird....go one more exit to Newtown Pike (922), follow it up to Iron Works Pike, go left and the Horse Park Campground (where the dog show is) will be on the right. Much easier way to go....
25 gets pretty backed up during rush hour - especially during evening rush hour in the northbound direction. It is only two lanes and there are too many commuters trying to get home to Georgetown. Plus it seems like there are frequent fender-benders or stalled cars that can snarl it for a while.
Newtown is a good alternative, too, although you will be going right past the I-75 N interchange at Newtown and it is easy to jump on there and exit at Ironworks. The northbound I-75 traffic can get a little heavy at the peak of rush hour, but not too bad at all. If you prefer to avoid interstates, I would choose Newtown, but my preference would probably be I-75N.
glad you're coming up (I'm a member of Lexington KC)....it's a great set of shows and a fabulous show site. Any questions, just find one of us at the shows and ask away!
