We are moving to VA and passing thru KY Saturday night...will the lightening bugs be out? Will be staying at the Horse something or another campground near Lexington.

Lightening bugs are more evident in early, summer, but a few might still be around.Look for them as soon as sunset is over, when there's just a faint glow in the sky.

And...I hope you saw more of the Kentucky State Horse Park just outside of Lexington than just the (very nice) campground. Admission includes the fabulous museum, Parade of the Breeds twice daily, horse-drawn trolley tours, horse shows of various kinds every weekend during warm weather, stable tours, and much more. The World Equestrian Games will be held here in September, 2010.

I find this thread refreshing. Hope you get to see your lightning bugs. I usually see them here in North Carolina in the evening when I sit on the patio. Our kittens just love to chase them.

I haven't noticed any lightning bugs this year. Then again I don't exactly ever look for them either.
