My wife and daughter are going to the Celtic Woman concert tomorrow night at Alltel Arena and I need to find a way to entertain myself from around 7:30 to 10:30 while I wait for them (Coming in from Fort Smith). I was thinking about walking around the River Market District.
Will I have things to do?
Is it safe at night?

Absolutely! Lots of places you can have a drink, or a bite to eat. And the trolley goes from the RiverMarket to Alltel.

I dont understand why so many people think the River Market area is unsafe. Its one of the best areas in Little Rock.

You can drink yourself silly. Other than that, there's not much to do at that time of day.

I agree.
The River Market is more fun during the day but with this heat...eh. I don't feel like getting out in it.
Why not go see a movie at Riverdale? It isn't too far from the Rivermarket (compared to other theaters...) or Lakewood 8 which is by McCain Mall in NLR in the Lakewood Village Shopping Center, right behind Olive Garden.

I don't think he was talking about safety, more along the lines of entertainment, things to keep him occupied.
I wish there was an old school movie theater downtown. I know there used to be one back in the day.....but we have so many movie theaters now and people just aren't going like they used to.
I'm sitting here watching a movie on Netflix...

Well, he did ask about safety.

Besides drinking, there's some pretty good places to eat, and there's lots of live music.

I didn't think about this 'til just now, but the Argenta area in NLR also has some nice establishments, and it's closer to Alltel.

purplelove, can you believe they just tore down the old movie theatre on Main Street? I couldn't believe it. I really had high hopes they'd do something cool with it; a music venue, or theatre like Market Street. it's just disgusting.

Well, there is a lot of historic preservation in downtown LR. That's why this one disappointed me so much.

The reason I asked "Is it safe" has nothing to do with location. I just have no idea of what areas of Little Rock are safe or not. It isn't that I think Little Rock is an unsafe city, but every city has that area that you wouldn't want to be walking around in after dark.
