Hi there!

I'm planning a trip to London this summer (as a graduation gift to myself for completing my grad school program) and would like to hear from the locals about fun, in-expensive things to do in London. I'll be traveling there in June. Here, we have outdoor movie and music festivals, and have art festivals and film festivals.

I've already booked a flight and hotel so I'm going. I just need to know from some locals, some great suggestions for shoe-string fun in London.

I would love to see London on a shoe-string budget; I only plan on bringing £1,272 ($2,000 USD) to spend. Will that be enough to cover the cost of food, travel, and sight-seeing activities/tours for two weeks?

I also have EU citizenship via birth and thought it would even be fun to try to find a summer job in London before I fly there from the Midwest, so that I could find someone here to sublet my apartment while I'm in London all summer.

I also have a friend in Lisbon who wants me to visit her and her family, and I also would love to take a day trip to see Paris, France as I've not been there either.

Thanks for your help.

There are no outdoor movie theaters as these were banned by the EU as they are against Health and Safety and offensive to Muslims.

You could always attend a traditional bloodsports meetup, such as the Midsummer Badger Baiting Convention?

Ha. That's been illegal in the UK since 1835. I appreciate your sense of humor.

And no, outdoor movies haven't been banned in London. Why would you say that? I just read a London blogger's blog who posted a photo of an outdoor film that she attended this year there.

Lots of things are illegal, like smoking pot and taking livestock on the bus - doesn't mean they're not also traditional.

You shouldn't believe what you read on blogs about London, most of them were written during the Cold War to confuse Russian spies.

Your budget will do fine. It's plenty for the time you'll be here.

If you're going to Paris, the Eurostar train is the best way there. Google their website for prices & bookings.

Thanks for the London tips P London and Stewart.

Not sure why the poster George & Bill felt he needed to try to take the **** out of me. I was just looking for good London "to see and do" suggestions.

I wasn't meaning to extract any urine from you, Midwestern Maven. I had been told on good authority that outdoor movie theaters had been banned in London by the Islamic Extremists in Brussels. But you have proven me wrong with your Internet links, for which I thank and upload you.
