They just "push a broom"

What you posted is very true. Their bosses are IAB and many times people especially "targeted" ones such as minorities or young adults from over zealous officers or just plain corrupt ones never get reported because of fear or not knowing they can. My point of this whole thread was to point that out and the fact that our broke government is being very innovative on how to correct the past mistakes of a very greedy selfish past at the expense of people who probably would correct some of these "minor" things had they known it was defective or even law.

No they do not. Dyno tests are a thing of the past as of a few months ago. It's a $21 safety + low-enhanced emissions test now. (and originally it was 1995 and before, not before 1995)

you've never noticed that nearly all the vehicles you drive behind at night have illuminated license plates? Have you never put anything in your trunk at night with the car on? If its a 2006 accord, the license plate is part of the trunk lid, impossible to not see the lights under there whilst opening /closing the trunk.

It is still 1995 and before unless your car is OBD2 compliant
A few companies started OBD2 in 94 but not all cars were 100 percent compliant until 1996.
most were in 1995
They still dyno cars that are not OBD2 compliant, that means all 1994 and older cars, some 1995 cars.
unless the vehicle is emissions exempt

your vehicle is emissions exempt if it meets the following criteria:

  • Less than two model years old;
  • 26 model years old or older;
  • Registered with historical plates; or,
  • Electric-powered only.
other than that, your either OBD2
or on the dyno.
the never did away with it

they'll only dyno the car if thier dyno is still working. dmv isnt paying for the repairs anymore.

Dyno's are being removed from garages by the DMV. Shops are complaining that they paid $100,000 to have them installed and that they OWN them. Maybe they want to find another use for them? Regardless, there is no more Dyno test. If your mechanic is still doing a dyno test, he's doing it wrong. The old inspections, with the blue border and printed-on-date are done. Everything will be issued a square, color-by-year type of sticker with a month punched out.

You will not find any information about HIGH ENHANCED (dyno) Emissions tests on the DMV site anymore.

no, my mechanic is not. his dyno broke down and dmv doesnt want to pay for the cost of repair. this is what I said many posts ago but someone said it was because the program was over. his machine broke down way before the program was over and dmv wouldnt do jack.

They were removing dynos or not repairing dynos as long ago as last September.

At first the idea was that if a company owns multiple shops, that the DMV would only bother making sure that 1 of their locations had a dyno that functioned as it was too expensive to fix them all. Now.. well, it is what it is.
