Just this morning, my train (Speonk to Hunterspoint Avenue) was stopped at Hunterspoint and we were all detained when a few cops (and their very intimidating assault rifles) checked the train because someone phoned in a tip that they thought the killer may have been on our train.
Sadly, two dismaying things were shown. First, it was pretty obvious the police were unaware of the sheer number of people who get off at that station, so that by the time they were telling people to get back on the trian so they could search, about 75 people were already off it and up the stairs.
Second, the self-entitled people who, even after being advised they were to stay on the train while the police searched it, felt they were SO important they snuck off as soon as the cops were not looking directly at them.

You might be right...add a beard and he looks like the guy in the grainy security cam photo.
Without knowing anything about the case it seems odd that this guy was found in Medford. You would think the guy would, you know, try to put a some distance between himself and the crime scene.
According to Newsday - mobile link
"Laffer offered some resistance when he was arrested about 10 a.m. at 30 Pitchpine Place, the source said, and he was en route to Yaphank police headquarters."
I sincerely hope that SCPD ended the resistance in the most firm of manner.
In other words, I hope they beat the living #%*^% out of him!

I hope NOT. The last thing we need is some tree hugging lawyer crying brutality and some lame special interest group using him as a poster child to rail against the police, who do a great job.
