Not unless they do something beyond their job. They arent waiters or cab drivers, they dont work for tips

You would tip only if you caused the problem that brought them to your house or if they do something for you that isn't their responsibility or would normally be charged but aren't (ie. removing an unused cable outlet usded by previous occupants).

$10 is okay.

Recently I did, normally, I don't. Cable signal went kaput, cable guy came out on a Saturday, crawled on the roof, ventured into the attic (It was over 95 outside) reran all cables, replaced the box...2 hours later still no signal.

He left and returned on Monday with another new box, it worked, seems the other "new" one was defective..who knew?

He reprogrammed everything, and yes, I tipped him..$20.00.

Ok, I accept it, lash me out.

It's funny, NY is kind of a "tipping culture." It's different down south, one time, I tried to tip a delivery guy and you know that move where you shake hands and press the bill into their palm? He totally didn't expect it and the bill fell to the floor. Awkward.

Having said that, I will tip for good service like if the guy goes out of his way to protect your floor, furniture, etc or goes above and beyond. One time a Direct TV guy came over on Easter Sunday because "he said he would."
