As for the people in East. Massapequa, not sure as I don't know anyone that lived there growing up.
That could be because most folks assume that all of East Massapequa is completely in the Amityville Union Free School District and do not know that the majority of East Massapequa is actually in the Massapequa Union Free School District.
If you knew anyone who lived east of the Massapequa Park village line, then those folks were in East Massapequa.

I only realized this when searching on REDFIN.com. I had to put in East Massapequa for it to produce results by the golf course, Nassau Shores area. It seemed the cutoff for south of merrick road was Burns Park.
Lived here all my life, always considered that Massapequa and the road by Berner being the dividing line. I assume that's because most refer to the school district they're in as I stated above.
I wouldn't think that someone who drove "a few million miles" would even own a house........that wasn't on wheels.
