My family is currently looking for places to move. We live right now in Queens, NY and don't know much about Long Island.
Can anyone suggest nice Family areas to move to in Long Island
Just curious, why would you want to even think about moving to a community that you know little to nothing about? Generally speaking you move to a location because you want to live there and either know the area or have researched it, unless it is a job related transfer which you did not suggest.
What is it, that you have heard about LI that makes you THINK you might want to move here? Are you looking to buy, rent, what is your budget, are you worried about schools, what do you like to do to relax, where is your job, how willing are you to commute and for how long? All of these answers can help those of us who currently live here and want to be helpful advise you better.
The big issue is where will your job be based. Will you be commuting into NYC? If so consider area within a 50 minute commute by LIRR, and look in area near train stations. Bethpage is a nice town with a train station just 48 minutes by train to Penn Station. Lots of south shore nassau towns have similiar situations

There are nice families in Roosevelt (near Meadowbrook), Wyandanch (good train station), Brentwood (near Wyandanch), and Central Islip (near Robert Moses).
Coming from Queens, start there and work your way up.
My husband and I both work in Manhattan. We want to find a place that is close to a city. My Husband and I are researching moving outside of Queens because the cost of living in queens is high and we wanted to see if Long Island would be a nice place to move.
We are looking for a 2 Bedroom Apartment. We have a Car but we don't want to drive in the city so we would need to be close to a train to commute to work.

As was previously pointed out, your budget would be helpful to give a meaningful reply
