I passed on the 3.59 and paid 3.54 cod with bel-mar. I hope this doesn't come back to bite me. Please keep posting your quotes here.

I just locked in with Slomin's for $3.69/gal for one year. From what I've been seeing that seems good..

Locked in with Petro at 3.84 gal fixed.

The 3.84 includes a free maintenance contract which is usually $125.00

I ususally use 750 gallons of oil per season.

The cost per gallon for the "free" maintenance contract is approximately 17 cents per gallon.

SO, in effect, I am paying 3.67 per gallon.

Not a great rate, but not bad considering the economy and what the price could be if there was a supply disruption.

I saw on the news a few nights ago that home heating oil prices will be up 19% this year due to forecasts of colder weather. I am sure if we have another mild winter prices will go up anyway.

U.S. home heating oil cost to rise 19 percent this winter: EIA - Yahoo! News

They say the average household will spend an additional $407 this year on oil. As LI/metro NYC oil costs tend to be higher than Maine, Upstate NY etc., I am sure most of us will eclipse that.

Does anyone know about this new law NY has that all heating oil has to be as clean as diesel? I saw something about it on the news the other day and they are saying that NY isn't ready to do this so there may be a shortage of heating oil and the prices can go past $5.00 a gal. Is it just the bs to make prices go up again?

I think this may be my last year with oil. Those oil to gas conversion offers are looking better all the time

If gas is available, JUMP on it as soon as possible. You will recoup your $ in 3-4 years, then save year after year.
