What do you think of 16 Northgate Drive? 16 Northgate Drive, Greenlawn NY - Trulia What about that area? It's harborfields. 1/2 day is fine since I am home with my son. Is that too close to the train?
I'm up by Oldfield Middle School and we can still hear the trains, but my kids love it (I don't even notice it until my boys start shouting "Choo Choo!" )
Will you hear the train? More than likely. Will it be a nuisance? Doubtful. You'll probably only hear it at very quiet times of the day and then only as minor background noise. I lived miles from the train growing up in Huntington but when it was very quiet late at night I could still hear it in the distance.
That area is fine. Close to "downtown Greenlawn" and still close enought to HUntington and even Northport.
As for other parts of Greenlawn that might be in your range, I also like college section and the area behind waldbaums and the area above Greenlawn road but below 25A.
I only mentioned the K thing and cutoff since you said your child was 22 months. I would be fine with for 1/2 day K for an almost 5 yr old, but for an almost 6 yr old I think it is a bit lacking.
We actually send my daughter to private K and may do the same with my son, but intend to do public schools beyond K.
Just to throw it out there, we are in the process of signing a contract on a home in the College Section. There are plenty of kids there, and we actually have a 15-month old girl. There's a small park with a playground and tennis courts in the area. We couldn't be more excited about it.
