I've been checking LIPA's updates all afternoon for the # of outages. Each time I've checked, the # was HIGHER!!!! THey are taking power away - not providing it!

At 4:50 they showed 462,801.
Half hour earlier, 461,447 and shortly before that, 460,000 (don't recall exact last digits).

This is very disconcerting.

I have noticed this myself over the past few days myself.

Why should they fix everything the first time? Then they can't come back later and collect more overtime ...

This morning they said 400,000 LIPA customers without power on NBC. Now on NBC, they said 1/2 million LIPA customers are without power.

Because sometimes you have to cut power to an area to make repairs to another. Have you guys never been through outages based on any kind of storm event?

I know two people in The Hampton Bays area who gained power and then lost it again.

My parents in W.Bab gained power earlier today and hopefully it stays that way since they've been in the freezing cold since Monday night....and they dont want to join me in Queens where we dont have to deal with LIPA's suckiness since its too far away from their jobs

I hate to be one of those ppl who left LI who brag about leaving but yeah, i'm pretty glad I did just about now.. Good luck to everybody and my prayers go out to anybody without power; its awful.

Ever stop to think that the families of many LIPA employees are also in the dark? You really think they are doggin' it?

Crews have been brought in from all over the country. Thousands of them. It takes time, like it or not.
