Yup, Hess has been a consistent player in the local petrol markets. Decent prices (for NY, anyway), good quality and same price for credit or cash. I believe most of the independent gas stations in my area are owned by one middle eastern guy, who should feel even less pricing pressure not that Hess will be out of the market.
Let's hope someone takes over the Hess franchise and continues their tradition of fair pricing. I'll also miss those Christmas trucks!
I once read or heard that Hess didn't by far east oil for its sales.I am going to miss a discount I get for buying Hess with their Hess/Visa credit card.
Thread title could not be more misleading. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Long Island and is in fact an internal investor battle and wholesale change in market strategy. LI has enough real problems without adding completely unrelated and ficticious ones.

Yup, you're correct, this is not a LI-specific story. Hess wants to do more exploration. But because the Hess Stations on LI are plentiful, I guess folks feel like it is.
I liked the hess stations - they were usually the largest which is great because I'm the only one whose car has the gas cap on the passenger side of my car. When stations are full, it's impossible to line up properly.

Is "qlty" short for "quality"? Must be going for the irony angle, as his posts tend to be the antithesis of quality
