Honestly, how often do you guys actually call customer service?
I think I've called VZW CS once. I can deal with subpar CS one time in 3 or 4 years over subpar internet speeds, terrible TV interfaces, Dolans, etc.
VZW is great actually. Fios is terrible. I've had at least 2 or 3 significant billing issues where I was lied to simply to get me off the phone, and a few technical issues over the years that were dragged out longer than they had to be.
But I agree as well. The service overall is superior to CV.

I've had FioS for 5 years. Never a hiccup. Never a problem. When my contract was up, I called and renegotiated my rate over the phone. My internet speeds are consistent. My TV is crystal clear. I even watched TV during my 8 day power outage from Sandy.
Before that I had optimum for 2 years. Only for the life of my obligated contract. My TV constantly froze and the box needed to be restarted. My internet speeds sucked - it would go up and down all the time. Called Optimum and they blamed my computer for the problem. Funny how the same computer worked perfect the day I switched to Fios.
I also disagree and will never go back to Dolan's cablevision no more freeze ups, customer service etc. Perhaps I received a better instillation of FIOS equipment, the installer had to try a few different set top boxes to get things right at first, also he gave me free HTMI cable free to replace the orig multi cable from CV
I'm In Brookhaven -- we can not get FIOS tv here, so it's CV or cut down trees for Dish.

In the past 3 years I've averaged about a call every 6 weeks to VZ. Noise on the phone lines after precipitation. They refused to send people out, and when the did send someone out, he blamed everything except VZ equipment.
I call CV a couple of times a year if I have a freeze up. I found I get a human very quickly (as opposed to waiting forever for VZ) and they have been helpful.
Hate getting into this fray since it's redundant as hell with too many threads already plus I think all utilities bite donkey nutz one way or another but I made the switch after many years from Cable to Fios (part to test the hype for myself, part for killer promotions they offered me).
So far after 3 months:
1. Still did not get my $300 promo.
2. Some channels promised by rep are actually NOT on my plan. My bad, caveat emptor, should have read the fine print. It's on me and I admit it but I specifically ASKED and was SPECIFICALLY told they were on the plan. Strike one for CSR honesty (or knowledge).
3. For all the talk of "faster channel switching" I find the FIOS box/remote locks up and NO CHANNELS SWITCH AT ALL. Am I too fast for it? Magic remote fingers? I have to wait indefinitely or else shut down and turn everything back on. More of a nuisance than CV's slow channels. And yes CV's channels ARE slow. At my in-laws house I want to throw the remote at the TV so FIOS when it's good has spoiled me on that one. Trouble is, it isn't always good.
4. While I am paying for faster internet (25/50) I am GETTING a fraction of that. Not bad. Pretty much same speeds as optimum w/ the free boost I had, but I am PAYING more for a better service from FIOS and am not getting what I am paying for. Many speed tests (including with the installer there) and BARELY pushing 10DL/19UL.
5. When awakening the computer in the AM (or any time), often the wifi link is broken and at best I have to refresh the browser over and over until it finds the signal OR clear the browser cache and reset (which loses any recent searches, remembered passwords, etc) OR worst case, have to restart the computer altogether.
The FIOS installer was great. Union guy. Nice as pie. Thorough, neat and professional. Much better than CV who always come to my house and each tech blames the previous tech for every problem. They KNOW I need a 2nd drop due to poor signal on the main line and yet they never do it and want me to reschedule and take off work endlessly. CV also was a nightmare with dropping channels from my plan and hours of pathetic poor service on the phone. I know more about the issues than the reps do and have to sit there like an idiot until they exhaust every other possible problem before taking my word for it that the problem is on their side and can be fixed by rebooting from the central station. Annoying 1/2 hour later it's resolved.
Hmmm, now I don't know what to do. Supposedly CV now has a 24hr MMA channel so I might take my promo $ from FIOS and see what CV will do to win back my affections. More channels, cheaper price, upgraded internet and if they buy out my contract and I'll likely switch back.
FIOS is swell but mostly a lot of hype. Picture quality a hair better for sure, the rest, plenty of issues just different ones.

That sucks.
Honestly, when I had CV it was a weekly ritual of hard rebooting every CV device in the house.. modem, TV boxes, etc. This usually cleared everything up until next week.
I have never had CV or VZ phone service so I can't comment on those.

Did you try calling them?
I pay for 75/25 and typically get 80/30 all day long.
