I grew up on Staten Island and took a job in Woodbury (town very close to Bethpage). I did the commute for 2 years by car, and it drove me to the brink of insanity. So I moved out here, live in Bethpage and I love it. Bethpage is about 1000x better than any place on Staten Island. Just move out here! Great Kills is also the freaking boonies for a commute like that. I lived in Westerleigh, much closer to the bridge.
Also if the job happens to be with Cablevision since they are located in Bethpage, you should take it. They are a GREAT company to work for, with great benefits.
You would be wasting crazy money on gas and train/LIRR fares alone.....not to mention hours in your car, especially in bad weather like snow or a rainstorm.
I would save yourself the trouble and move to Bethpage or LI in general....
You will be hating yourself doing that commute 5 days a week.
I remember last time I did a trip like that for an interview in white pains at 7:30am with 40lbs worth of tools was a nightmare. Oddly enough I too have looked at a companisy based in bethpage than thougt better of it after the commute and price of fare for both mta & lirr would do better to find a small apt or a room to rent. What school did you graduate from?
This thread again? The quality of the commute in question has not changed, it's still totally off-the-wall and probably qualifies as one of the worst commutes I could of dream of.
Did anyone ever do this trip? Judging by Google directions, the commute is about 3 hours long with multiple transfers involved. I have a possible job prospect in Bethpage and really need a job. However the commute seems hellish. I've done a 3-hour one-way before going from home in Staten Island to school in the Bronx twice a week. It was bad. I hated it with a passion.
commute from SI to bethpage? that is insane.
