Not even. Back in '65, they were trying to turn Sunrise Highway into the Atlantic Expressway (elevated freeway with five lanes each way with service roads). The only people who should be complaining about traffic on Sunrise are people who bought their house in the 50s or earlier

Especially one that is relatively rare here on Long Island.

My view is this: if you want to live like it's the 1950s move to Fisher's Island, Shelter Island, or someplace upstate.

I think that was a Jack in the Box but it could have been an Arby's as well.

The people who whine the loudest about developing property that otherwise lies in their communities, either empty or dormant and undeveloped,
whine even louder because their property taxes are continually rising to meet fiscal budgets in their community. It never fails to amaze me, that the same mentality
exists with those who know how LIPA and those rising electrical costs are driving us to the poorhouse, yet, fight the notion of windfarms or solar power development in
their neighborhoods. Ironic that most all of them carry cellphones, but when there is a proposal to place a cellphone tower near their homes, they'll take a day off,
from their jobs to either picket, or to attend a community hearing, clamoring to shoot down the notion. Proves only one thing, some people are never happy.

There's a newer one on Sunrise Hwy in Bellmore.

Yes Arby's use to be in Lindenhurst on Sunrise Hwy and then it was Jack in the box and now empty building.
