Just got word I won another grievance after appealing! Tax savings this time: $1,344!

(No, didn't do it myself. Worth it to me to have someone represent me during the appeals process.)

I must have received 30 letters in the mail from various firms offering to get my assessment reduced. When I read how easy the process is online, I just couldn't see myself paying someone several thousand dollars to fill out some simple forms.

Even when I calculate the cost of spending a day at small claims court, I'll still be thousands ahead in total cost.

It really is a shame that in such an obvious case, such as mine, that the Town makes you jump through hoops just to get a fair shake.

Glad to hear you won your grievance though.

Thank you!

If you can easily make the time, by all means, it'll be a good experience for you! And I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone - have done it myself in the past.

Just wondering what you mean by your comment bolded above. Why thousands ahead in total cost? The fee is a one-time fee of the first year's savings After that, the homeowner reaps the benefits of the reduction 100% going forward.
