It's something I've noticed coming back from many different parts of the country and overseas...LI is very humid in the summer, as humid as anywhere on the east coast including Florida. The relative warmth of the Atlantic makes it much more humid than areas along the West Coast.
Gotta disagree with you there Dman. There is nothing like FL humidity, you can cut it with a knife. I often laugh when I hear people complain how "humid it is up here". One thing I hated most about FL summers (and spring) was how insanely humid it was almost every single day.

In South Florida, yes.
Right now the dew point here is 72, it's 74 in Orlando. (anything over 65 starts to feel uncomfortable, 70+ is miserable).
The difference in Orlando is the heat. It's 75 here and 84 there right now.

I lived on the coast so humidity was im sure worse near the water. You are right about orlando, no ocean breeze and the middle of the state makes the heat brutal. And dont let that 84 fool you, that intense sun and humidity makes 84 feel like 94!
Holy toledo, people!! Left the house with beautiful pin straight hair and arrived at the train with a giant frizzball. I love the fall because it means I start looking pretty again.
But, even though it hasnt been as hot on the whole as other summers, is it just me or the humidity worse this year than it has been in a while?
It's only been the past 2 days that we've been feeling any humidity and so far I've been finding it weak, not intense. The past 2-3 weeks have been very nice for late July-early August. At least be thankful for that!
I suggest you find a Dominican hairdresser. I hear they work wonders for hair that tends to frizz.

Bummer...I was going to go on this whole spiel about dewpoint and how the relative humidity is often the same as FL but DMAN beat me to it.
But 100% humidity at 85 deg feels a lot worse than 100% humidity at 35 degrees...so noone cares when its humid in the winter.
All correct about the influence of the water. The dewpoint is usually going to be close to the water temp...which right now is in the low 70's.
