Hi there, we live in Nassau county in 1 1/2 br apartment. We will be moving to atlanta in next couple of weeks.
I need to know if i can get a good , reasonably cheap mover to move our stuff along with a car.
I have no idea how much it could cost. We have stuff like king bed, sofas, tv, dining table, chairs, wardrobe, dressers, computer table, dresses, kitchen gadgets and utensils, picture frames and shoes, coats.
Ofcourse there is always something we might leave behind.
Still, trying to move the major items.

If anyone could provide me with information/ reviews, it would be of great. Thinking of moving nrings lot of stress. But hopfully, we are making the best decision. Cost of living in could save some money.

Couple of weeks? You may be out of luck scheduling so close to the holidays. At this point, you won't find cheap and what you do find probably won't be good either

I have used uShip - The Online Shipping Marketplace - Ship Freight, Furniture, Cars or Moves before and its a good system. Create an account, put as much information as you can in the description of the bid, you set a price you want to pay and companies will bid on your shipment.

You do have to pay the amount upfront once you've chosen a mover, BUT you don't pay the mover until they have moved your stuff in. It's kind of an escrow account. Once the movers move your stuff, you give them a code and they get paid.

It's easy and the people who bid on your stuff often have lots of reviews from other shipments.

I don't know how they do with interstate moves, but we did a local one with Men on the Move. We had a great bunch of guys, our items arrived in good shape after two days stored on two trucks, and the final bill came in $700 less than the estimate.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I truely appreciate that.
I did enquire couple of movers and each one giving their own prices.
Interestingly, i got a quote from MEN ON THE MOVE for $1250 aprrox for a move from my location in Nassau county to Duluth Ga.
Has anyone had experience with this mover on reliability (especially on items management and Price)?

Thanks longislander2 for the great info.
I have been thinking why does the price range from $1200 to $5000. Could there be any surprises if i go with MenOnTheMove when they are offering to move stuff for $1250 or so?

Moving companies that do interstate moves can charge you for many things. I had to look into moving some things from California to New York (also did a move once rom New York to Las Vegas over 10 years ago). Moving companies can charge you anything from use of moving supplies (blankets, wraps etc) to having to move things up flights of stairs (if no elevator is available).

Could also be that some of the companies that charge cheap have low overhead as well. It could also mean that they are putting your stuff with another person's stuff and had extra room to fit you in their truck.

We used Men on the Move locally and were very happy. Clean, careful, timely and came in under their quote. I would guess that inter-state has a lot more variables.

You will find some movers build certain things into their estimate and others don't - for example the mover we used put the cost of mattress boxes into their estimate, the other two didn't. You're going to box your mattresses, so why leave it out?

Interstate moves also have tariffs involved.
