How does this improve the parking situation, other than for the the first 225 to apply? I would think only Town of Hempstead residents are using the spots now.
Really?!? Have you driven around Bellmore, Wantagh, or Seaford lately? You're being generous with the term "Riviera."
Most people in these towns keep their homes very well-manicured and updated; however, most of the homes in this part of LI are typical split-level homes on modest sized properties. I don't think the area is anything glamorous but it's good that they show pride in ownership.
Also, the northern towns like North Bellmore, North Wantagh, North Massapequa tend to be less nice...with North Merrick being the exception. North Wantagh looks identical to Levittown.
I don't see anything wrong with this region being called "the riviera". "Riviera" just refers to the meditteranean region of Europe around Italy. Most ppl in this region are of Italian-American heritage.
Man, how does Garden City survive with nasty Hempstead next door and no parkway between them? Won't somebody think of the poor people in Garden City?!
The housing cost gap is much bigger between Hempstead-Garden City than it is Freeport-Merrick. This means that more Freeport residents can afford Merrick compared to the amount of Hempstead residents that can afford Garden City.
Freeport avg home price: $350k
Merrick avg home price: $512k Difference: $162k
Hempstead avg home price: $332k
Garden City avg home price: $763k Difference: $431k
Oh, I didn't realize people only consider the next town over when moving.
In any event, he claimed it was the highway keeping the barbarian hordes out, not the home prices.
