There was a stabbing and attempted robbery at a bodega-type deli just by the station at 8:30 this morning. Fortunately the store owner was able to lock the guy in the store while the crook's friends tried to flee on a NICE Bus, but all were apprehended by the NCPD. I'm not at all surprised, there's always bums and troubled people hanging out in that spot along with lots of day laborers. Most commuters cant even get a seat in the waiting room with all of 'em in there. And don't even think about using the restroom! Something really needs to be done to address the crime and vagrancy issues at this station.
I know more trains stop here but if you can avoid it park at Bethpage or Syosset instead. Basically that part of Hicksville is now merely an extension of New Cassel. Thats what happens when high taxes force out the middle class, slumlords buy up the homes and stuff 'em in there.
Surprised the door doesn't open from the inside without a key. Isn't that against code?
I was kinda surprised about that too. Then again we all know how well building codes are enforced in Hicksville...just as well as they are in New Cassel next door.
But this sort of thing happens in Bushwick all the time yet people keep moving there!
Bushwick is cool to the hipsters and much closer and much cheaper to commute to Manhattan to. Hicksville is not. Bushwick = $112 monthly MetroCard and 1 subway ride. Hicksville = $276.00 monthly ticket + $112 monthly MetroCard.
20-something wannabe hipsters who fancy themselves to have "street cred" move to Bushwick for the social "cool points." No one who moves to LI is looking for that kind of environment intentionally.
Seriously FHD, I'm glad you're big and bad and down with stabbings or whatever, but I like my Sunday morning deli runs to be free of major felonies.
