I was born in 1971 so i was a late 70's to early nineties kid. It seems to me alot of the stuff discussed are before my time or I just don't remember it. I do remember shopping in woolworths and wanting my mom to buy me a parakeet that they sold. She said no they look sick. Here are some blasts from the pasts that I remember as a kid growing up on LI:
Nunleys
Mcguiness's
Nathan's in Oceanside
Adventureland on a saturday night with my parents
Malverne bowling alley
Watching the Uncle Floyd show ( I saw him twice at Dix Hills performing arts center.)
Romper Room
TSS-I got my first LP there, I think I was 7 when my mom took me to get it. I remember it was a disco record and it had the "Hustle" on it.
Playing outside all day until dinner then going back outside after until 9 pm (summer time) Not like kids today who are addicted to video games and texting, we actually ran around and did activities)

Taking trips to Woodmere park and running through the maze they had.
Paddle boats at Grant park.

I remember Carlos Pizza being the Best pizza Ever. I loved their sicilian pizza.Still have not found anyone like it. I still remember Amity theater phone # MY1-0200 saw A Hard Days Night there. I had the greatest childhood growing up there. Miss those days. And also remember the(Pit) where they built the Massapequa Mall. We used to find arrow heads in the woods there. I also remember going to Massapequa Zoo and drive Inn movies. Another favorite Pizza was pizza Supreme in the Bar Harbour Shopping Center. I also had a blast riding my blue Schwin Bike with a bannana seat throughout Massapequa, Farmingdale and Amityville.
Wow, I am so glad someone else remembers Carlos' Pizza Oven! Yes, the sicilian was the best. That is what my parents always ordered, never once giving in to our protests for the round pie. I remember watching the Sunrise Mall being built. It seemed like a huge colossus to us. Do you remember the Mays and Gertz Department stores in East Massapequa? My parents shopped there alot. I think the mall did those stores in. I was in Amityville a few months ago. The village still looks great, but the whole area has changed so much. I miss those days.
