Like it says. Who you using for heating oil? Particularly E. Nassau/W. Suffolk. Fixed rate? Ceiling rate? How is service? I was with the same company for a long time. Small mom and pop. Pop retired. Daughter botched the books. Company acquired by middle size company who I'm coming to dislike...a lot. Price, service, general attitude, mysterious swiss cheese contract...all bad. 1st time contemplating the bigger guys like Petro, Slomins, etc but wonder if anyone else has someone they love and recommend or hate. Thanks.

We used Perillo brothers and they were great. Needed a new furnace and they offered a three year finance charge free plan. Thankfully only had heating problems one or twice but they came quite quickly.

We used them too, back in the day. Good service. We paid $1.19 per gallon with a service contract so I guess I'm dating myself!

I used to use a COD guy (Econofuel) who was great, but he doesn't do service or maintenance. My former plumber retired and I couldn't find one who didn't charge an arm and a leg for service calls, so this past year I switched to Frank Bros who is a full service company. I was able to get a price lock last November of $3.499 and a service contract for $99. I'm very happy with them so far.

I wish I hadn't waited until November to switch to them, though, because that means that if I renew or switch to a different company this year (after comparing deals) I will be doing it during the heating season instead of during the late summer when fuel prices will probably be lower than they will be in Nov. :-/

Timing is everything.....

Worst of both worlds on gas. Nat Grid will bring it to the house free but it's a Levitt with burner under the stairs in center of house on slab so no go. Would have to build a bump out or completely renovate to build a boiler space and rerun water main and heating pipe feeds, plus all new equipment. Would be a $15k+ job and then some.

Bit the bullet and went with Petro. My neighbors love them and I know what I'm getting with them. Good service and I beat them up for a great price. Of course in one year they will try to gouge the heck out of me but I negotiate for a living and will play the game. Same with Cable, Verizon, etc. $3.39 for 1st tank (200+ gallons), then ceiling price of $3.509 for the year. Premier level service contract for $99 but a $100 oil credit to offset it so it's free.

Thanks for the replies.

Discount fuel.
Lowest prices. Once you run out of fuel and you order before 9am, they come in an hour to your house for delivery(I LIKE IT!)
Also, you are offered discounts for 20cents off per gallon due to them using biofuel

I never had an issue with Slomins. A week ago I saw their contract price for new customers at $3.39 at Broadway Mall. Maintenance contract is $129.

I hope you your negotiating skills are better on your job...I just changed.

Their offer without negotiating...

$3.19 first fill
$3.52 ceiling
Same contract with same deal.

And then I got them to throw in an air conditioning tuneup for free this summer.

and you said you beat them up?...with a feather?...come on, Mongooses are tough little animals.
