Thank you for your insight! Have you noticed a change at all in the neighborhood?

Also look into houses by Babylon town hall. that's an awesome part of North lindy that's a little better area.
Thank you! We will look into there as well.

The area is perfectly fine. Like mentioned, it is a working class South Shore neighborhood.

The diner diagonal to Burger King is very good.

As far as flooding, there was zero flooding in that area. It is closer to Southern State than it is to Sunrise. During Sandy, the affected areas were mostly below Montauk Highway. Maybe some below Sunrise.

You'll be fine! Good Luck!

Pretty much your average middle class area. As to the concern for flooding, not an issue. The area is considerably further north than any of the areas that were impacted by Sandy.

Sandy impacted every south shore town and then some. Rain and wind caused damage to areas that do not normally flood. Flooding is just one impact this storm. The wind alone ripped of roofs and the rain washed out entire homes.

I spent many weekends assisting people clean up damage nowhere near the water. Yes, even in Lindenhurst.

There was NO flooding damage in the specific area the OP was talking about. Lindenhurst was one of the hardest hit areas of Long Island, no question about it. However, the area around the intersection of 109 and Straight Path, did not receive any flooding.

Flooding was just one of the problems. Wind and rain damage certainly did happen in North Lindenhurst.

There actually wasn't a ton of rain with Sandy. There was here and there wind damage pretty much all over, but the wind damage itself wasn't really any worse than other storms that have hit us. You also mentioned flooding in your first response to this threa.d The largest problem by far with Sandy on Long Island was surge related flooding, Lindenhurst being one of the hardest hit areas on Long Island. However, it wasn't a problem in the area in question.

It is prudent for any buyer on the south shore ask about sandy damage and repair as I have stated previously.

It is a blue sky today.
No the sky is not blue, it is grey blue.

Parse my prudent and excellent advise any way you wish. hahahahaha

Some people have a misconception that entire towns were flooded out during Sandy. Not just Lindenhurst, but I also heard comments in the bank about Oceanside, Freeport, Bellmore, Seaford, the Massapequas, Amityville and Babylon etc.. But the majority of the flooding took place south of Merrick Road/Montauk Highway.

To the OP. There was no flooding in most of LINDENHURST during Sandy, let alone NORTH LINDENHURST, which is north of Sunrise Highway. Almost all of the flooding was south of Montauk Highway.

The area you are asking about is about a half mile above Sunrise Highway. Even a category 4 hurricane storm surge barely reaches Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst, let alone going further north into North Lindenhurst. And a 4 is very unlikely - the strongest hurricane to hit Long Island has been a category 3

Suffolk County Emergency Shelters (includes Suffolk County storm surge maps - put address in section "Am I in a storm surge area?" to find answer)
