We have a newer through-the-wall air conditioner that was previously in our living room that we would like to have put in a bedroom. We have the sleeve, which is in decent shape.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an installer? Our contractor that we usually use wanted $250, but that seemed really high.

Thanks!

~Jay~

Price seems reasonable..

1. Contractor needs to block out time to do this while he could be working on other jobs.
2. Cut drywall
3. Frame out opening
4. Keyback siding
5. Cut sheathing
6. Install A/C aunit
7. Insulate
8. Fix/Patch (Install J-Channel) Siding
9. Trim inside

$250 is reasonable for a person to do this. Would you want to get out of bed and do it for someone else for less than $250... If you want it done cheaper than do it yourself or with a buddy but $250 is fair.

He might also need to do some electrical work if needed.

Yup, even more reason why $250 is warranted.

Thanks for your replies. There's no electric work needed, and he would be doing this in conjunction with other jobs, so it's not a matter of blocking out time.

Totally understand your point but time is time.. As long as him or one of his men are working on installing that a/c they are not working on something else which means that the other jobs he is doing for you are receiving less man power, thus will take longer.

If you trust the guy I would just give him the $250 while he is performing work on your house.

If it really bothers you ask him if he could knock $50 off because he is already working at your house but overall his pricing is fair.

$250 is a decent price.
