If you want THE best diner try The Golden Dolphin on Main St at the far end of town by Woodbury Rd and Main St. accross from the parochial school. They give you an incredable deal for your money. Its always busy which means the food is always fresh.

The Mediterranean Snack Bar on NY Ave is probably some of the best Greek food on LI.

The Samurai Japanese Steak House on the corner of Gerard and Wall st accross from the movie theater is great Habachi. Great place to bring the kids. foods always been good and they give you that little show.

pomodoro Italian is great on Stewart Ave..which is at the 110 and 25A intersection.
They take a while to bring you your main course but thats probably because they actually make each dish from scratch. Comes out piping hot!!

How's that for a starter course
edit: all in Huntington

Try FH Riley's at 400 New York Ave. in Huntington Village. The cheesecake is the best.

Some of my favs within Huntington Village:
Abel Conklin's (steakhouse)
Restaurant Joanina (italian, but they also have a gourmet deli attached that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.)
Canterbury Ales (pub/casual, very friendly staff, consistently good food which I consider better than typical pub fare.)
Munday's (family oriented, best known for their breakfast, but can get very crowded on weekend mornings)
Tomo Hibachi (sushi/japanese...Samarai, which Andy mentioned, is Tomo's sister restaurant. Samarai is more for larger parties as it doesn't have many small tables like Tomo.)
Piccolo (romantic)
Prime (best in warmer months so you can take advantage of the outdoor seating area overlooking Huntington Harbor.)

Huntington, but not the village:
The Clubhouse (very intimate steakhouse, closer to Woodbury and Melville)

Other restaurants in/near the Huntington:
Ruvo in Greenlawn (italian)
Mill Pond House in Centerport (steakhouse/seafood, excellent food and service. Great for lunch and very popular during the summer months when they open their outside deck/bar.)
Sweet Mama's in Northport (very family oriented, good comfort food, popular breakfast spot)

Can you tell I don't cook? There is no shortage of good restaurants in the Huntington area!!
