Kodi. As everyone else is saying. You need to hire your GC/Builder. The good ones are booked for months. This is a very busy season for them. If you get one now, maybe they can start by September and get the roof up before rain season.

This is 100% accurate!

Ok I get it. I didn't think it's that's hard to find a GC. So I will concentrate on that.

Thank you.

It won't be hard to find a big commercialized company like Time White, Great Additions, Alure, Shells Only, Larsen, or Jarro...

If you want a family business company where you deal with the owner and not a sales team then most of the good ones typically get booked up 2-6 months.

I prefer the family business contractors but everyone has their own preference. There are positives to both types of companies.

Kodi, hiring a GC is easy. The problem lies in what their time line is, not the hiring process. I would also suggest that while a hardship letter will not hurt, be aware that the response to it may not be what you are hoping for. We had friends recently that were relocated from a TNH home, across the map to California, where real estate is as expensive if not more than on LI. They presented a hardship letter and the response was "I'm sorry, but that is not a TNH problem, you should have thought about that before putting your house on the market." Theirs was a case of getting a permit for previously done work though. I am formerly from TNH, albeit over three years ago and from my own experience they really don't care what your problem is.

nuts2uiam, thank you, I will keep that in mind.

So other than price what are the reasons you would go with a family business contractor vs a commercialized company?

Shells only was the only big company we were requesting a quote from. And we thought we can compare other contractors quotes against Shells Only. I'm just wondering whether there's anything else I need to think about.

It all comes down to size of their crews, in terms of when they can get to your job. A more commercialized company will most likely have a larger crew thus the time line may be shorter. Or, because they are a larger firm they may be busier, thus a longer delay for you. Generally speaking, I would go with a family business because they have smaller crews and often times can somewhat "personalize" your job.
