What neighborhood would be better for a couple of seniors still working. I live in NHP, and wanted to buy something for them nearby, but taxes are way too high and they don't need to pay such high taxes because they don't have school-age kids. I need something close to public transportation to NYC, thinking about Elmont, or Franklin SQ or Floral Park? Any advice?

Floral Park taxes are nuts. What's your budget? They are seniors and they want a single family house? Seems a condo or coop in Bayside, or North Shore Towers would be a great option.
Single family home with low taxes on a higher budget: New Hyde Park Queens or Floral Park/Bellerose Queens.
Single family home with low taxes on a lower budget: Valley Stream. Lowest taxes are in SD-30, followed by SD-24 and SD-13. Terrific LIRR access, too. Elmont isn't as nice and doesn't have LIRR. Franklin Square is perfectly nice but also has no LIRR.
A little further from NHP, You can get a 3br ranch in Hicksville for 375-500k and the taxes will be 6500-10k. You can't be the frequency of trains at the train station.
get a 2 bedroom apartment in Great Neck right by LIRR. or Long Beach is they like beaches....seniors maintaining houses could be less than ideal.
