Well the voters seem to love these politicians, want a change then vote,
Yeah, there's so much ranting about draining the swamp, off with their heads, vote 'em out, etc., etc. Then at election time the same old retreads get another term. I guess it's a combination of hatred for change, and those without a vested interest, such as cronies and town/counties employees, are too busy watching the game and hunting down mall coupons to bother voting.
This place is just too insular, and I'm guessing many people don't get off the island much. They like to keep the status quo if possible. I always vote for change.

Yes they keep waiting for superman to come along. Every town supervisor and council member just got reelected, that must be a ringing endorsement by voters that they think they are doing a great job.
Neither Suffolk or Nassau can balance a budget, looks like NIFA is finally taking a stand, imagine asking politicians to take some fiscal responsibility. Looks like the $105 or $55 fee will be challenged in court, they are only allowed to add on administrative fees which this law obviously does not.
Maybe the cops should actually drive around enforcing traffic laws instead of sitting in the 7-11 parking lot bs'ing with each other. That would help generate some revenue.
I don't agree with you much Karl but on that I agree
I'm not trying to beat up on the cops, but they really need to enforce traffic laws more aggressively.
I've noticed a night and day difference out east compared to Nassau.
NIFA rejected the budget calling for a revision later than next Monday with either $36 million in cuts or revenue increases to fix the budget gap. If they don't come up with a plan NIFA deems workable by then, they will impose their own cuts
The GOP Legislature also filed a bill to increase the Tax Map Verification Fee (part of the Recording Charges for Mortgages) from $225 to $355. This fee was $75 a year ago... It was raised from $75 to $225 to fill this year's budget gaps.

You're lucky if you can even see a cop there are so few on the street.
