Nassau County police officers' salaries=;|
That's payout at retirement for time they earned. Quite different from annual salary.

If you want to cut police costs, HIRE MORE COPS. You've got old-timers, who are making the big bucks, filling bigtime OT slots because nassau and Suffolk County PD's are so short staffed. It would be significantly cheaper to hire more new cops, at the current lower paygrade, and fill the manpower openings accordingly.

Anyway, current fines are already through the roof, this new proposal is completely asinine.

The problem is the same with many union police officers. The execs are held hostage. They claim it's cheaper to pay OT than hire new cops due to the perks...aka pension.

Now I already proved that 150k-200k is reasonably common. My HS buddy of mines rakes over 160k a year for Nassau PD and lives in a nice house in Dix Hills. I don't hate him for it..since he works pretty hard.. We are all paying for it and sleezy Mangano is trying to sneak more garbage fees & taxes in for all of us due to his incompetence

none of these absurd fees would be necessary if our well compensated police force occasionally enforced the cell phone laws.

Too lazy to enforce that...it's too much work for them

also an increase in "small business license fees" for some businesses , and new required registration and $600 fee for other small businesses (fitness clubs, pet groomers) .
Renewable every two years.
A great way to drive the economy , Ed.
Does anyone ever ever ever ever ever ever ever think of cutting the fat ?
It get stupider (poor English - perhaps more stupid)? every day

$103mil deficit.

We all know there needs to be new ways to make up for the deficit but this makes zero sense. He's raising money just to add more to the deficit by hiring more of who's overpaid? Do we even have a LE shortage?

Quote:
Increase in security alarm permit application fees and fines for false alarm violations — from $100 to $150 for residential permits, $200 to $250 for commercial permits, and $359 to $528 for alarm fines — estimated to raise $1.6 million.
Hefty % increases just to raise $1.6 mil. Punish us for trying to protect ourselves while they're at it.

Has anyone been any good at addressing our costs? I don't think who's in office is the real problem, do you?
