I'm about to look at a home which says it has gas. I noticed in the pictures that it has an electric stove, not sure if it also has an electric clothes dryer as well.

Can anyone tell me what the approximate cost might be to run the gas to these appliances? I'd like to factor that in to any offer we may make.

Thanks.

Too many variables.
How far is gas service from appliances?
Basement? Crawl? Slab?

The distance from the source and the obstacles in between are a big factor in the price.

Thanks. The home has a basement, but I'll have my husband make note of the rest when we look at it. Of course, I'm your typical woman who thinks these things happen magically, lol.

No matter what, you are probably looking at a few thousand.

Is a permit needed to switch from electric cooktop to gas cooktop? Already have gas for water heater and the heating system.

How does it say it has gas? Easy gas conversion or something like that? The homeowner may prefer electric and therefore the home may already have gas ready to go. I found when looking for homes especially if it was a resale that people who love electric will go that way. I for one, HATE electric and gas is not available here unless I want propane. If there is a gas dryer in place depending upon where the line is relative to the stove it is not that expensive to run.

I think the permit will be required to extend the gas service into the kitchen from the basement/utility location where the heat/HW is currently located.
