Under the County Exec plan all properties will be re assessed for 2019 with the accurate assessment. If your assessment was grieved and is inaccurately low, it will be raised to the correct assessed value. If your assessed value is too high it will be lowered to the accurate assessed value.

That was the answer from a Nassau county legislator

Nassau approves companies to reassess county properties

Good luck

So what are they doing AFTER the reassess? Are we going back to the old model (appeal every year)? Is there a long-term strategy/plan?

So once this reassessment takes place, it's kinda like a reset on the taxes? Then those that have been grieving, have to grieve them all over again and gradually work their way back to where they were, or get as close as possible, or are they doing something about the grieving process as well?

Will all politicians, their families, friends, political cronies, etc, etc be exempt Or have their respective properties flagged so that they are not unnecessarily over-assessed?

Seems the ones who build up are the ones who want to live here and those who want to leave are the elderly or those with an empty nest. People will still pay what the piper asks.

But will we see fewer leaving if their taxes for a common ranch drop as a result of this?

Where do those politically connected grievance companies fit into this new plan? They make hundreds of millions on the backs of NC taxpayers.

As Karl said, so glad I got out of NC.

Borrowing $2.2m to pay to the firm to finish the assessments.

After reassessment, tax increases will follow the rule on the books of max. 6% per year, 20% over 5 years. The ones assessed low will brace for pain (better than a 25% hit at one time but that would cause mayhem and they know it and it may hit in an election year) and the ones who never grieved will still feel the pain of paying more for the coming 5-10 years. The wrinkle will be if a minority municipality like Uniondale sues (as has been done) and shows it's still disproportionately over taxed. Then more govt shenanigans to find a way to fix it. And on and on.

Of course if the value of property goes up along with the taxes then the school taxes must go up, its for the children...
