“I think it’s important to reflect the listeners we have out there,” Chernoff said at the time. “… To have more of a reflection of what’s out there — male, female, person of color.”
Chernoff's criteria was to fill quotas, not get the best talent.
Carlin is a former producer for Mike and the Mad Dog who worked his way up the chain but was never a must listen nor displayed any real passion for sports other than Rutgers. Maggie Gray is an embarrassing sports lightweight who reads the sports section and uses that for her talking points. Bart Scott knows football as a player but doesn't seem to have any historical knowledge of the game. He can talk about players he's faced but he can't talk about Joe Montana vs. Dan Marino because he's not a fan of the game like listeners who watched them. Scott has not demonstrated any knowledge of other sports, and his speech is tough to take (says things like "hisself" "ax a question", never uses the word "an" when it's needed instead of "a", etc.)
Some of us have interests that differ from yours. Crazy thought I know. Many of us who work for a living enjoy listening to the radio on our ride home. Many even enjoy sports and hearing people analyze the sports we enjoy. The quality of the person or people doing this analysis does have a measurable impact on our afternoons. Perhaps you can share some of your interests so that we may all belittle them?
See my post above. It applies to your narrow minded and self absorbed views on life as well.
Dumb sports.
