It's only been 10 days. Sink holes are serious, complex things. Effective and lasting repair cannot begin until a complete assessment is done to determine the cause of it and other critical factors. It's not the county's fault that this happened at the start of beach season. It is, however, their responsibility to ensure that they maintain safety around the sinkhole until it is repaired, and with the increased seasonal traffic, that means 24/7 monitoring and, yes, lots of traffic cones.

Nothing is "complex" unless it's brain surgery, going to spaces, etc. Sinkholes aren't complex.
"only" 10 days. lol China builds a 1,000 bed hospital in less than 10 days.

Yes, they ARE complex in that they cannot simply be filled and tarred over like a pothole. I'm not going to go into all the problems they can cause if they aren't properly assessed and repaired -- you can look that up for yourself. It's not as if they are a common occurrence on Long Island that experienced teams are always at the ready. The OP's post read more like a political gotcha, referencing it merely as a "hole".

And I'm surprised at you for holding up China as an ideal.

I looked it up.. Japan fixed one in days

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/japan...b0e39c1fa665e0

It took just two days for workers in the coastal city of Fukuoka to fill in the hole ― described as 98 feet long and 49 feet deep ― and repair the road and water mains, according to local reports. The city reportedly spent the following days testing the road to make sure it was safe before opening it to the public Tuesday morning.

This thing should have been fixed already.

So you found one instance in Japan from 2016 to support your claim. Wow.

Cool, you moved the goal posts. Seven years later it would probably only take them 5 days.

10 days to fix this. Stop apologizing for the ineptness of Nassau County.

Whenever someone uses the word "complex" with regard to anything but brain surgery, rockets, etc. run the other way. "Complex" is often used to explain away graft, corruption, and incompetence.

I can assure you that this sinkhole in LI won't be fixed for another 2 months (at least).
