I found the search feature! Open the program guide. Have any program highlighted. In the lower left hand corner is A for Options. Hit A and the last choice is the Search feature. I tried it and it goes to the old search screen and my saved searches are there! Really don't know if Search always was there under options. I used to use the big button like you did. Hope this helps! Would have been nice if we were told changes would be made.

TVAddict,
I forgot to properly thank you for this workaround that you provided back in September. Thank you
But alas, it appears that even this workaround doesn't work any more. I get a "Search No Longer Available" message when I try to search the guide. This happens even after I power cycled the cable box.
Also annoying is that when using the remote, I have to double click the buttons every time to get it to register a single click.
The long term outlook for Altice/Optimum service is not good. In addition to losing video & broadband customers, Altice is $60 Billion dollars in debt, and facing scandal regarding their operations in Portugal.
I can imagine that Altice will be spending the bare minimum to get their fiber upgrades completed - if they ever get completed.

I just had this same exact problem. They came and replaced the box. All is good now.
March 19, 2024:
I had the same problem. I used that same work-around: Guide -- Press A -- Search.
Then, a few days ago, it stopped working. I get a message saying that the Search feature is no longer available.
I called Optimum today and was told that I can get the Search feature back if I upgraded.
I told them I was going to quit Optimum as soon as possible.

Just do it. A cable box is like having a rotary phone.
All you need is internet service.
Lose the box & the landline.
You’ll be fine. Everything will be ok I promise.
If you need someone to talk to, I’m here for you.
I too was afraid to make the cut, but I did, and life actually got better.
