Another thing the inspector turned up...double tapped items in the electrical panel. He said it's an "easy fix." After some research, I'm not so sure. Anyone have an idea if this is a minor or major project and what the cost associated with it might be?

We're talking about a 90-year-old house with 100amp service.

Also, is this a violation of code - which a bank will have a problem with?

Whats double tapped? How many circuits ie 2- 20 amp/tapped of the main(bad)? You have circuit breakers or fuses? If its a few circuits, not a big deal.

Code violation.....well its a point of contention but yes.

The bank will have no idea...they do not take the panel cover off....

It should not cost more than a $250 bucks....

What the inspector is referring to is a "double lug" .The additional wires (double lugged) on the circuit needs to be removed (with power off) and placed on their own breaker of equal, current amps. Simple-inexpensive repair if space is available on the grid in the panel. Most likely, there is no space available for this, that's why their "double lugged ".In that event, it's time to 1-check local building supply retailer, look for "thin line breakers" of same brand as the panel and amperage. The thin line breakers are same as other breakers, just 1/2 the thickness therefore allowing you to install 2 breakers into the space of 1 breaker. With power off-simple installation. Or, in the event no thin lines are available, it's time to add sub panel .Consult lic electrician.
I am working on a house ,just started today that had a double lugged feeder wires supplying 2-250 amp panel's. The left top feeder in panel #1 caught fire due to too much current draw for the wire awg size. Caused extensive damage, Inspector is correct in expecting this repaired. Huge code violation, hazardess.FYI
