I'm in the process of finding a house to rent in valley stream or Woodmere, but haven't had much luck in finding a place. I did find one on kilmer lane in woodmere for 2300 but the place was gone once I wanted to go see it. Any one know where I can find a place in those areas under 2600/month?

check www.mlsli.com or www.realtor.com and put in the towns you like, the limits(minimum and maximum) per month, etc. Make sure you check the rental tab.If you click on advanced search on realtor.com,you can put additional towns.

It's not quite as bad as NYC here, but you do need to act quickly on rental properties, especially houses, as they are in relatively short supply. I'd go with Craigslist first to try to avoid broker fees.

Does anyone say on brooklyn,or on the bronx? It is a long island thing. Both are acceptable but if you are a word freak "in" would be proper english and not "on".

You can live in a town or in a state but how do you live in an island? I can live in Manorville or Famingdale but Manorville and Farmingdale are ON Long Island. I live IN NY but ON Long Island.
Sorry, this is dumb and I am up too late waiting for an oil burner repairman on a cold night. I am hard pressed for entertainment. I'll quit now. LOL
