Just went this month to the LI children's museum and Riverhead aquarium. My daughter loved both. They are fun for adults too. Orly's treehouse is a cool spot for toddlers too. Northport Village Park was beautiful, relaxing and it is easy to stroll around town with kids and the playgrounds are clean, well-kept and gated.
I had no idea there was a place called Orly's tree house.. and so close to my place too. But it seems to be mostly for non-working moms.. they do not have evening hours.
What's a good place to take toddlers for swim lessons? I know of 2, Eisenhower park and Saf-t-swim. Reading online, the sign up process seems to be a lottery for Eisenhower park ( and quite intimidating.. you have to sign and really watch for dates etc). Saf-t-swim seems nice. Any comments on these? Any other places?
Benner's Farm in E. Setauket BF Homepage. Great place for small ones to feed farm animals and hold baby animals, swing on the tire, and go on a tractor ride. Nice and small, not too crowded. I know there are couple of other well known petting farms, but this is smaller and off the beaten path, and more central.
Someone already suggested which I back up, check local public library for events there and in the community.
Also YMCA has tons of great things for kids/families.
