This is awesome! FIOS now has their own version of News12.
It aint half bad either.
They just need to hire more hot news chicks.
Channel 1.

Thank God no more watching the network news crap, they barely had any LI coverage, none of them. It was all the city and Jersey.
The only thing I missed about Cablevision was News12.

Looks like Mike Stevens is the first defector from News12.

If you have FIOS, check out their new packages - NY area only has a 35/25 package for $10 more than what I was paying for 20/5, and they toss in the movie package for free so basically it's costing me $1 more a month.

They added a bunch of HD channels too... VH1 HD, very exciting =)

I hope FiOS1 news gets better. I watched it the other day and was not impressed. I guess I should cut them some slack since they just started. I want to see more in-depth coverage of local issues. Unfortunately, since FiOS has practically no presence out here (Brookhaven and eastward), I bet all the local coverage is going to be in Nassau and possibly Western Suffolk....oh well.

I just had Fios installed yesterday and its Great!!! I too was very glad that they added a local news channel because News12 was kind of nice for local stuff, and escpecially the traffic girls.

I went to Cablevisions walk in center to cancel service and turn in our Boxes and Modem right afterward. I told the woman that helped me that I wished to cancel all of our services, she didn't even ask why...........well I guess they know they just can't compare.

Maybe they can raise the price of Newsday to recoup there losses

kudos to Newsday for actually putting an article about this on their web site and in the paper.

I may be naive, but it appears they're at least trying to maintain some sort of Chinese Wall.

By the way, I just placed my upgrade order - there are a few new tiers available. The 20/20 is now 35/20 (not 25 as mentioned above) but it's actually being provisioned at 35/35 according to everyone who has already been upgraded.

Also, if you upgrade from 20/20 to 35/20 (triple freedom bundle) they will try to get you to get the showtime package added on for $10 a month. Since I'm not a big premium movie channel user, I just took that off the order and kept the Internet part of the order intact. It came out as a removal of my existing 20/20 of $64.99 and an additon of 35/20 for $64.99. Net change per month: $0.00.

Just another example of how lousy News 12 is. They say they're "LIVE" as I have a yogurt in a Yogurt & Such that has Cablevision. Someone walks in at 6:15pm and says they heard on the radio that Michael Jackson has passed away.
Left the yogurt place at 6:30pm and there was still no mention of it on News 12. News 12 doesnt do breaking news. I havent missed it one bit when I switched. I can get the same news sooner on the radio, CNN, or the city stations.
