Yes, the search function worked swell!!

BUT, I will be new to NYC very soon. My work will be at JFK and Laguardia. I would like to room share somewhere that will be a fairly decent commute. Long Island looks the best so I can avoid the tunnels and bridges.

If you were me, which area would you want to live in??

- Mid 30's
- Single Gay Male
- Into cycling and fitness
- Love the outdoors
- Love to walk to a local pub and have a beer on the w/e's

Budget is around $800 for room share and utilities. Could go as high as &1k.

Thanks a ton!!!

thatcycleguy, JFK and La Guardia are in the New York City Borough of Queens, and, if you haven't already done so, you might want to post your query at the NYC forum: http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-york-city/

Howard Beach, NY has the airtrain that goes to JFK. It's $5 a trip, but they have montly and 10 pack discounts to make your travel to work more bareable.

As Walter said- this is an LI Forum, and both airports are in Queens. There are no viable timely public transit options to either airport from the majority of Long Island, nor is parking at the airports convinent or well priced.

On the plus side, you'll find $800 can do you very well for just getting a room in Queens. Please note to the folks here too, if you intend on staying on Long Island for some reason if you have a car- if not that severely limits you as to where you must reside.

How about Kew Gardens Queens? Lots of airline folks in the neighborhood. I don't know that I would pick LI if I had to go to the airports. You can take the LIRR to Air train to JFK but LGA is a bit trickier from LI.

Not even to rent a room from somebody?

The OP would probably like LB. He could ride his bicycle on the boardwalk, etc.

It's worth a shot. I think roomshares are pretty rare in general though, no? He is asking that price to include utilities too.

Yeahhh not to mention, LB is very close to JFK, 15min drive tops.

Lots of pubs in LB too- yes, right up his alley I am sure.
