Look at all those wonderful sedans traversing that LA freeway! Not a truck in the photo except a few commercial vehicles.

Great photo. Now the question is: what freeway is that? At first I was thinking it is the Hollywood freeway\ 101 but now I'm wondering if it is the Santa Ana freeway\ 5. Has to be in the basin somewhere.

the offramp sign towards the background says Silver Lake Blvd, which leads me to believe that it's the 101 since I don't think there's an exit for Silver Lake on the 5.

Yes, of-course it has to be the 101 looking toward Hollywood. The mountains in the background look different to me.

it's definitely the 101, blow up the pic and look at the exit sign, it says Silver Lake. to the left of the picture is where the western exterminator building is located that has the big mallet guy looking at the little mouse.

If you are smoking the right stuff and blow up the picture even more, you could also see the purple monkeys on the trees.

On a more serious note, look at the jackass tailgating on the far left lane of the traffic moving away from the camera. Obviously, even then they had those kinds of people which is no surprise.

He's probably tailgating one of those annoying California drivers who squat their slow-moving asses in the fast lane.

What time of the day and what time of the year was the photo taken?

More southbound traffic.
Sun looks like it is from a low angle from the southwest.

Late afternoon in winter?
